# HushDisk > HushDisk is a desktop app for encrypted virtual disks. It mounts encrypted VDF container files as ordinary drives in Finder and File Explorer, decrypting data only as it is read. Development builds exist for macOS and Windows, a Linux desktop app is in development, and there is no public release yet. - Containers the apps create use AES-256-XTS by default, keys derived with PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA-256 (600,000 iterations) and HKDF-SHA-256, and an HMAC-SHA-256 tag on every stored record. - Mounts are read-only by default. Writing is something you turn on, and it is experimental. - Editions: Basic and Pro. Pro's hidden volumes and secure file deletion are planned and not in current builds. - Support: support@hushdisk.com ## Site - [Full text](https://hushdisk.com/llms-full.txt): the whole website as Markdown, including downloads and recent changes - [Features](https://hushdisk.com/#features): what HushDisk does - [Security](https://hushdisk.com/#security): cipher, key derivation, integrity and known limits - [Platforms](https://hushdisk.com/#platforms): how it works on macOS, Linux and Windows - [Editions](https://hushdisk.com/#editions): Basic and Pro - [Download](https://hushdisk.com/#download): packages, checksums and system requirements ## Optional - [Recent changes](https://hushdisk.com/#changes): build history from the project changelog - [Questions](https://hushdisk.com/#faq): common questions - [Downloads manifest](https://hushdisk.com/downloads.json): current packages and store links as JSON
